BarTur Photo Awards
The best entries from the 2022 BarTur Photo Award are currently on show at Berlin’s f3 — freiraum für fotografie, continuing until February 19, 2023.
Endowed with a total of 20,000 US-dollars, the annual award honours photographers from around the world whose unique, compelling and inspiring works challenge our views and heighten our awareness of the burning issues of our time.
Amidst the abundance of images that surrounds us in the modern day, the BarTur Photo Award aims to discover and support talented contemporary photographers, and introduce their work to a wider audience.
Each year, the best entries are selected by a jury of leading industry experts. For the 2022 edition, they included Katharina Mouratidi (Artistic Director f3 — freiraum für fotografie), Fumio Nanjo (Mori Art Museum, Tokyo), Ossaini Raggi González (University of the Arts, Cuba), Karin Rehn-Kaufmann (Leica Galleries International), Carol Körting (LFI — Leica Fotografie International) and Simon Roberts (photographer).
Among the selected artists represented at the winners’ exhibition are French photojournalist Veronique de Viguerie (Ann Lesley BarTur Award: First Prize), Giacomo d’Orlando (BarTur Award for Climate Change: Series) and Chinmoy Biswas (BarTur Award for Climate Change: Single Image), amongst others. Also featured are the entries of Espen Rasmussen and Philip Cheung — the two recipients of the 2022 Leica Fotografie International BarTur Photojournalist of the Year Award.
